On learning materials on your own

I was recently comparing the availability of extra learning materials on the internet. I am positively impressed, who optimization many methods are well documented on youtube, like gradient based optimization algorithms. Most of this videos are thought surprisingly Indian professors ...and since the Indian culture, empathy and worldview is one of my favorite ones, I did enjoy. 

On the other hand

financial mathematics, where one needs books to follow the program syllabus. However, the main ideas can be potentially summaries into succinct formulas like here.

Keep up to date

There is a question, how to keep up to date with the development? The common answer would be to follow renowned journals. What I feel, what is good is to follow questions on StackExchange. Some questions in the field can be understood. But by the more advanced, one can find their knowledge edge. 

Entertainment

My recent weekend joy is in watching scientific youtube videos. Michio Kaku, Google Talks or the Economist I found worth following.

Between the positive changes that the pandemic brought, I would see that some companies are continuing to offer the option of a home office. No heavy traffic, no pollution, the development of the country side.

Digital Nomading

There are also many jobs moving to the option of being a digital nomad. Sitting on a tropical island and working over the day on your laptop and after the working day comes sipping milk from a coconut and walking on the beach, where it is nice and cheap. 5 hours a day of added life quality. The working culture might change in the after-pandemic times for everyone. I personally believe that remote work can be established once the employee is well settled in the job. In situations, where personal contact is not essential. Trust might be an essential catalyst. In Finland home office is more common. The most important prerequisites for remote working are a good broadband, digitalisation and the culture of trust, sais Kirsiana Blonquist.    

European English 

I fully identify with the idea of the professor Marko Modiano, University of Gävle in Sweden, who told: "It's time for the people in mainland Europe who have English as a second language to determine the future of English for the European Union." Following in the Netherland or Israel, we could have a continent, where experts in the field can travel freely and live freely without much barriers. As a working language; without geopolitics. Learn everyday a new word.

Reliability

I would be thinking that the discipline will be in future needed mainly for technology innovations. There will always be a new start-up with an innovation with e.g. drones or autonomous cars, where we will try to increase the reliability of this product. Let's do a next post on it
